OUT OF PLACE

Vevringutstillinga 2017, Vevring, Naustdal Municipality
6th–17th September 2017

After twelve days in Vevring on the west coast of Norway, Vigdis Fjellheim and I left behind the mural Out of Place on the west wall of the local school. The wall was 8.5 meters high and 7 meters wide. With motifs featuring mutated and endangered animals in vertical rows, floating plastic bags, sea creatures, and black corals, we addressed human-induced changes in nature. Our approach was inevitably influenced by the local situation in Vevring, where the plans for mining in Engebøfjellet and the establishment of a mining waste disposal site in Førdefjorden loom over the village and its residents.

Exhibitors at the Vevringutstillinga 2017 included:
Lionel Fahy, Norvald Hemre, Grethe Unstad, Maia Birkeland, Eske Rex, Carina Paulson, Lene Jelling Holm, Eva Sæverud, Rasmus Brinch, Marit Roland, Torunn Skjelland, and Vigdis Fjellheim.
