Bamboo and Camphor
University of Agder, Campus Kristiansand
Mural painting, carved shapes in oak and MDF, oiled and painted
For this project, I have drawn inspiration from everyday objects and decorative items that I find both visually appealing and intriguing. Many of the motifs play with exoticism and are almost schematic or iconic in their representation. Some include a touch of humor (such as a dog dressed as a pineapple), and the combinations become absurd. It’s about representations – and stagings. How we stage ourselves and our surroundings.
The process is intuitive and associative. I collect pieces, searching for connections and patterns. In this way, I create new narratives and develop my own form of logic. For me, it’s a kind of visual anthropology
